Associação Prato Cheio (Association of the Full Plate or APC) is an Organisation of Civil Society in the Public Interest (OSCIP) that has an objective of fighting food insecurity and food waste.

Since 2001, APC has worked together with partners, doners and social institutions to: reduce food waste; minimize the the effects of hunger and better the nutritional habits of the beneficiary population.

Currently, we collect more than 3 tonnes of food every week for the benefit of around 9000 people attending more than 50 different institutions.

Our basic commitments

• Promote awareness of food wastage in greater São Paulo.
• Identify sites of wastage in the food cycle (in industry, transportation, trade and harvest)
• Co-ordinate a collection and redistribution system for rescued food
• Offer cooking courses that teach hygienic ways to handle food and how to better use food to preserve their nutritional value
• Evaluate the nutrition of children attending social institutions
• Outsource the collection of food so that institutions become self sustainable
