What does Associação Prato Cheio do?

Associação Prato Cheio (APC) is a Organisation of Civil Society in the Public Interest (OSCIP) that aims to fight food waste and insecurity in the city of São Paulo.

APC collects excess food from all segments of the food industry and delivers it free of charge to more than 50 social institutions in the city. The food collected is used to supplement the meals of more than 9000 people every week.

What are the benefits to my company for donating?

What does my company get for our records?

·         A receipt from our drivers stating the date and poundage donated.

·         A certificate thanking you for donating your excess food.

What about liability?

There is a law to be aproved in the brazilian National Congress to protecct the “good samaritans”, but while this does not occur...

Don´t worry! APC will provide you a “Letter of responsability” that states that our organization takes full responsability for all the food donated in our name.

In turn, APC has a contract with each beneficiary instituition that states that each of them take all the responsibility for the food donated from us.

What about food safety?

Handling food safely is of paramount concern to APC. We train our staff to follow national food safety guidelines.

Does APC accept all kinds of food?

Yes, we accept fresh food, refrigerated and frozen food, dried foods, foods in boxes, cans and bottles.

The only foods that APC doesn´t accept are those beyond their use-by-date, those containing alcohol or those deemed unsafe by our staff.

What about packaging?

Our cars are equiped with plastic bags and crates appropriate for food storage.

I´m usually very busy. Does donating take a lot of time?

In the time it takes to throw away excess food, you could call our office and arrange for it to be collected. Our drivers will pack the food and distribute it to institutions on the same day. Donating to APC is an easy, efficient way to be generous!
